So, first of all, I want to say thank you to everyone who voted in the poll I made a couple of days ago which was about what kind of post you want me to write. The winner was “A Day in the Life of Me”!
So without further ado, let’s get going on this post!
This is how my typical day is like (apologies, I don’t have any photos of myself to show you guys.):
I wake up at about 7:30 – 8:00 AM and put away my futons into the closet. This is pretty normal in Japan. (All of us kids sleep on futons, though my parents have a bed.) Then I stumble downstairs where my dad is, reading his Bible or doing some things on his computer. I then change my clothes and get my breakfast done, which is usually cereal.
After brushing my teeth, at about 8:30 – 9:00 (when my dad leaves for work), I open my Bible and begin reading. It’s usually a struggle because my younger siblings come downstairs and begin harassing the place. I have to go upstairs and read and pray for about thirty minutes (but it’s often delayed because I can’t focus).
After I do my chores , it’s time to get started on my school work!
The homeschooling system in my house is seperated into two parts. Japanese schooling and English schooling. I use Japanese textbooks for Japanese schooling and English textbooks for English schooling. I usually start the English schooling first.
I do the normal workbooks from about 9:30 – 10:30 or longer, which consists of grammar, logic, spelling, reading, and fiction literature. (On Tuesdays I go to learn piano and on Wednesdays I learn calligraphy (shuji) at 10:00 from other teachers). Then, I get on the computer to do an online curriculum that studies ancient literature from a Christian perspective. This usually takes about two hours. After that, I get on a site called the Young Writers Workshop, which is an awesome place that young writers join up to learn and have fun. I write for about an hour an a half or two hours. I am currently writing a Sci-Fi project and editing a fantasy one.
At about 2:00 – 2:30 PM I start my Japanese curriculum, which consists of math, kanji, and science. This takes about an hour and a half. My dad comes back from his work when I’m in the middle of doing these things, and when I’m done we do some science studies or spelling tests depending on the day. He then goes over my work and checks stuff. All this finishes at about 4:30 – :5:00. From that time to around 6:00, it’s free time. I practice piano, read a book, play a board game, go outside and exercise, or talk with my brother (it rarely happens, but it does. 😉 ). At 6:00, I get on the computer once again and write with my friends on the Young Writer Workshop until about 7:00. After I eat dinner, I continue writing until about 8:00.
Then, I get ready for bed; I brush my teeth, get in the bath, change clothes, and then start reading a book or do a board game until about 9:00 – 9:30. Then, my dad reads us a devotion and prays with us, and we go to bed.
(Note: It sounds like I’m studying all the time, but there’s actually a lot of free time mixed in 😉 )
So what did you think? What does your day look like?
I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did trying to write it! And thanks again to everyone who voting!
See you next time! God bless! 🙂
